WSD Summer Programs

Wissahickon School District offers the K.I.D.S. (Kindergarteners Investigating and Discovering in the Summer) Program once again.  This program, taught by a certified teacher experienced in teaching early childhood level students, introduces children to the school setting and strengthen early literacy and math skills in a fun, relaxed environment, rich with books and hands-on activities. The program provides a boost of confidence to our students as they begin their school experiences in the Wissahickon School District.  

All kindergarten students entering WSD participate in the Wissahickon Kindergarten Interview which assesses students’ early literacy skills such as letter recognition and sounds, concepts of print, as well as number recognition and basic kindergarten readiness skills. The interview also helps us identify students who would benefit from participating in the K.I.D.S. Program. 

The Wissahickon School District offered summer programs designed to maintain skills in literacy and mathematics and prevent learning loss over the summer months. Our program's focus includes instruction in reading, writing, and mathematics. The goal is to target essential skills and reinforce strategies with students who require additional support to strengthen their reading and mathematics performance. Students are invited to participate in our Elementary Summer Academy based on their performance on various formative assessments. The Elementary Summer Academy is offered to families free of charge at Shady Grove Elementary School. 

The Wissahickon School District is pleased to offer the Summer English Language Development program designed to help students with their English reading, writing, and speaking skills. Students who have received English Language Development services during the 2022-23 year and are entering first through fifth grades in the upcoming 2023-2024 school year are eligible to attend the program. This program is offered to families free of charge and will be held at Shady Grove Elementary School. The program runs for five weeks.

Staffed by certified teachers, the free WMS Summer Academy offers a blend of Math, Language Arts, and Wellness activities. Recommended 5th through 8th grade students are strongly encouraged to attend the Summer Academy to reinforce their learning and prepare themselves for success the following school year. Invitations to the Academy are shared with families by the School Counseling Department. 

2026 Camp for Success

The Pre-Teaching courses are designed to address gaps in knowledge that students may have in a given content area or help students get a head start on a particular course.  The Pre-Teaching courses are designed to introduce students to material in a course they have not taken yet.  Courses will focus on the necessary skills that will assist students to be successful in the 2026-27 school year.  The goal of this course is to prepare students for their future courses before the school year begins.

The Re-Teaching courses are designed to address gaps in knowledge that students may have in a given area.  The Re-Teaching course is designed to review material in a course that students have already taken and passed.  The goal of this course is to review important concepts and skills that students will need in order to be successful in the 2026-27 school year. 

The SAT Test Preparation course is designed to build the confidence of students who will be taking the SAT test in the coming year.  The goal of this course is to identify and implement test-taking strategies and utilize prior knowledge to increase student performance.  Essay writing will focus on a piece of writing that may be used in the college application process. 

These courses are free of charge to eligible Wissahickon High School students.  Course availability is subject to change based upon family/student interest. Registration opens on Tuesday, February 17, 2026.  This form must be completed and submitted by Monday, April 20, 2026: 2026 Camp for Success Registration Form  

Camp for Success Boot Camp

Common Application 

Rising seniors in the Class of 2027 are invited to join Mrs. Stoudt, College & Career Counselor, on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, for a Common Application Boot Camp! The boot camp will walk students through all sections of the Common Application.  Mrs. Stoudt will be joined by an English teacher to assist students with the essay writing process as well.  Take advantage of this great opportunity to get a jump start on the college application process this summer!

Pre-Teaching and Re-Teaching

Pre-teaching and Re-teaching classes will be held from Monday, June 22 through Thursday, June 25, 2026, from 9 AM to 1 PM.
Students can only select one option (Pre-teaching or Re-teaching) and only one subject.

SAT Prep

SAT Prep will be held on Monday, June 22 through Friday, June 26, 2026, from 9 AM to 2 PM.   Please note:  There will be a break for lunch; however, lunch will not be provided.  Students will need to bring their lunch.

WHS offers Credit Recovery Summer 2026 for students who need to recover credit for a course. Please review the details and attached brochure below carefully.

WHS is partnering again with the Montgomery Virtual Program (MVP) through the MCIU, which allows students to complete courses online with added in-person support at WHS. Our goal is to help students get back on track in a way that’s structured, accessible, and supported by our team.

What to Expect

Program Dates: June 22 – July 30, 2026
Schedule: Students attend class at WHS 2–4 days/week from 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM. On days they’re not in the building, students work independently online and can connect with their teachers through Microsoft Teams.

Regular attendance, consistent progress, and communication with teachers will be expected in order for students to earn course credit.

Step-by-Step: How to Register

1) Meet with Your Student’s Counselor

All course registrations must go through the WHS School Counseling. Please do not submit payment before meeting with a counselor. 

2) Make Payment at WHS (In Person Only)

Dates & Times:

• Wednesday, June 17 | 8:30 AM – 12:00 PM

Cost: $300 per course(Cash or Check)

Time: 3:00 – 3:45 PM
Format: Virtual (link will be shared prior to the session) A recording will be shared with all families registered for Credit Recovery.
